Ozone Oil Capsules Protocol

Dose, timing and cautions for swallowing ozonated-oil capsules, and the thin evidence behind them.

Quick answer: Ozone oil capsules are swallowed ozonated oil. Madrid lists a strength of 400 PV, and the sheet uses 1 capsule before meals, twice a day. The evidence is thin, and the sheet says so. It is a home protocol.

Based on the Madrid Declaration on Ozone Therapy, 4th edition (ISCO3, 2025), Table 4B, and MediSkill's home-use guidance

What are the basics of ozone oil capsules?

  • Ozone oil capsules hold ozonated oil in a swallowable capsule, so you do not taste or smell the oil. They act in the digestive tract. They are not a substitute for ozone therapy given by gas or blood methods.
  • A common home schedule is 1 capsule before meals, twice a day, by mouth. A typical capsule holds about 500 mg of ozonated oil. If you are new to them, you can start with 1 capsule once a day for the first day or two and see how your stomach feels.
  • Madrid lists 400 PV (peroxide value, the measure of how strongly the oil is ozonated) for oral use and gives no dose or schedule. Capsules on the market vary widely in strength, and some are labeled far above 400 PV. Follow the label and the low end of its range.
  • Evidence is thin. There is no controlled trial of capsules for gut conditions, and the human studies are small.

What dose and schedule are used for ozone oil capsules?

StageCapsulesHow oftenTiming
First 1–2 days1Once a dayBefore a meal
Usual1Twice a dayBefore meals

The studies gave the oil before meals or on an empty stomach. Take capsules at least 2 hours apart from supplements and medicines.

What are the best tips when using ozone oil capsules?

  • Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not chew it.
  • Choose capsules whose maker states the oil, the amount of oil per capsule and the peroxide value.
  • Some capsules are made to open in the intestine rather than the stomach. If you use those, follow their own label.

What are the precautions for ozone oil capsules, and who should avoid it?

  • Possible effects are stomach discomfort, nausea, bloating, burping and diarrhea. Lower the dose or stop if they occur.
  • Do not use during pregnancy. Talk to your practitioner first if you are breastfeeding, have an active stomach or bowel condition, or take medicine.
  • Capsules are for short-term use unless your practitioner says otherwise.
  • Never breathe ozone gas. This method uses oil only.

Contraindications

Check with your healthcare provider before starting, especially if you are pregnant, have a heart or bleeding condition, or take blood thinners.

What the studies used

Evidence is thin: no controlled capsule trial exists, and the H. pylori data are from single-arm series. The dose studies used differ from each other, and none was a placebo-controlled trial.

  • In 40 obese adults on a one-month diet, 2 ozonated olive oil capsules each morning on an empty stomach led to a larger drop in waist (4.3% vs 2.7%, p=0.049) and hip size (3.7% vs 1.6%, p=0.023) than diet alone. Weight loss was not significantly different (p=0.064). It was not randomized (Aslan 2026).
  • In 48 adults with H. pylori, one 1.2 g softgel of ozonized sunflower oil (500 PV) three times a day, 30 minutes before meals for 30 days (second cycle if still positive), gave negative tests in 39 (81%) after one cycle and 45 (94%) after up to two. There was no comparison group (Serrano 2016).
